Ode to Twitter

So, a very strange thing happened here this week.
It left me in such shock, I don’t know how I’m able to speak.
I picked up my phone, clicked on Twitterberry,
And what I saw next made me very wary.

Nothing, happened, the damn thing just sat there.
What the hell, Blackberry, I thought you care
About my addiction to that thing called Twitter,
And now you’re just going to sit there like a quitter?

But come to find out, it wasn’t my phone at all.
It was some dumbass attack that caused Twitter to fall.
Okay, no problem, call out the S.W.A.T. team,
Fix Twitter, and I won’t have to scream.

But, no. Nothing at all from Twitter all day.
I actually had to work, you believe that? I couldn’t play.
Today was no better, I didn’t see one tweet while at work,
I was ready to quite literally go beserk.

Twitter, why, OH, why can’t you just fix what’s going on?!
A world without you just seems so very wrong!
Please just fix whatever the hang up is now;
I need my phone to update, will you just allow?

No. Dammit. What do I have to do?
Move to a different site? Will that hurt you?
If I go home and it doesn’t work, that’s it, we’re over.
Nothing will fix our friendship. Not even a four-leaf clover.

So, I get home today, ready to leave one of my favorite sites,
And you could tell, it was thinking with all of its might.
And my homepage popped up. I could see everyone’s chatter
Nothing this evening could have made me happier!

Now, Twitter, we can still be friends
Our relationship doesn’t have to end.
But, hey, while you’re at getting things back to pretty,
Can you do me a favor and banish that HornyKitty?
Thanks so much, for that, I’ll send you flowers.
Sincerely, @aprilshowrs .

Confused

I feel like I’ve hit a wall and don’t know what to do.
I admit that, in this area, I’m feeling a little blue.
What do you do when your heart is so unsure
Of what is play and of what is pure?

I thought things were going in one direction strong,
And now I’m almost quite sure I was maybe wrong.
And that’s fine if that’s the way it is to be
But right now I kind of want to crawl under a tree.

I was really fine and happy being on my own,
So I know I will be again, should I be once more alone.
And I don’t really know what’s going on yet
But I know that I’m kind of starting to fret.

I’ve tried not to think on it, tried to put it all away
In the back of my mind, and save it for another day.
But we all know that my mind I cannot block,
When I’m really onto something, I think a lot like Spock.

Except when the heart is concerned, logic is no more,
And right now my logic is shaken. Shaken to the core.
What the heck do I do? Try to just go with the flow?
Is that what he wants? To go really, really slow?

I wish he would just tell me, rather than make things feel weird.
Or at least I feel weird, and maybe just a little scared.
I honestly wished that I didn’t give a care
That I could just say "whatever" with quite a snarky flare.

I guess for now I’m just going to see what he does next.
And hope that I’m not failing some sort of dating test.
There is only so much I will take though, and I’m not the type for fits.
I’m more the type to say, “you can really kiss my ass”.

Note: The last line was originally "kiss my grits". And as much as I love the old TV show "Alice" and that line from that show, I know that's not me. I'd say "kiss my ass." But I thought the "kiss my grits part was funny, so read it as you'd like. ;o)

The Night Before Shredding

Tis the night before Shredding begins over here,
And I think most of us are afraid we’ll shed tears.
Work out clothes and weights have been set out with care,
In hopes that we’ll seriously shrink our derrieres.

I know that tonight when we’re all snuggled in bed,
We’ll have dreams of Jillian yelling in our heads,
Because we know what's coming after our night’s nap.
We’re going to sweat, maybe cuss, and be sore as crap.

Beth has so bravely gotten a head start of a few days,
She’s warned us what’s to come when it’s our turn to play.
It’s going to be hard; we’re going to sweat more than a bit.
But I have no worries that we can all surely do it!

Now April! Now Melissa! Now, Lisa and Christy!
Crooked Eyebrow will sit this one out; she‘s gonna have a baby!
Get those push ups done! Work out until you fall!
Now Shred away! Shred away! Shred away all!

We’re springing to our feet, getting up from our couches,
We’re going to Shred for 30 days! Heck, we’re no slouches!
In 30 days, lots of weight will be out of sight!
Happy Shredding to all, and to all a good night!

The Sisterhood

One Tuesday evening, not so long ago,
I was sitting on my couch watching my favorite show.
My laptop was handy and Twitter was open.
Some funny tweets are for what I was hoping.

Then I saw a tweet that really caught my eye.
Someone was giving my favorite show a try.
I looked at the profile, decided to check the site out.
Then the next day I was shown what that site was about.

I guess you could say the rest was history
Because I’m a part of that site; it’s really no big mystery.
So if you’re new here, and you’re looking to get lean,
Then welcome to The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans!

The site began with four women (and one man),
And if you’ve spent any time here you can see why I’m a fan.
There are challenges and recipes and ideas galore!
And each and every day, they just give you more!

I also love the insight and support that they give,
And I know that I’ve made friends for as long as I live.
Since I have joined, the Sisterhood has grown much.
I love to see all of the lives that we touch.

We all have struggles each and every day,
And for those times too, we’re there in every way.
I know on days when I’m being a sorry lass,
There will be someone to give me a swift kick in the ass.

So are you sold; have you joined us yet?
I promise it’s not too late, don’t you fret!
A new challenge starts tomorrow in the Sisterhood,
Join us! Now! Love to have you we would!

A Valentine's Day poem

Ah, today is that lovely day filled with love
And cards and hearts and little chocolates by Dove.
Some of you look forward to this day I know,
But for me, it leaves me looking for something to throw.

I groan the second stores put the little pink hearts out;
And the cards and the roses, I just really want to shout.
Oh, and don’t even talk about that little shit, Cupid,
I think that squat little thing is just stupid.

OMG, there’s a commercial for match.com.
That’s much worse that any kind of love song.
The chocolate really is the best part of this day,
But let’s face it, too much of it, affects how much I weigh.

I give up and am just going to wish this day to end.
Because as soon as it does, I know my attitude will mend.
But to all of you folks who love this day I will say,
I really hope you all have a Happy Valentine’s Day!

Note: To those of you who are just getting to know me, I'm just bitter because I've never had a Valentine. ;o)
